The Tri Tip Roast is the most popular roast on the west coast. The east coast is just learning about this fabulous roast. Each 2-2 1/2 pound roast is cut in a triangular shape and is about an 1-1 1/2 thick. It is grainy in appearance but is lean and tasty. These roasts can be cooked on the grill, the oven or in the crock-pot. Any way the Tri Tip is prepared, the best part is in the eating. Cooking Directions: Best Method - Bake. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cook for 25 minutes. Cover with foil after 15 minutes to avoid drying out. 2nd Best Method - Grill. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator. Put grill on high to heat up. Drop temp to medium/low, close lid and cook 12-15 minutes on the first side. Then flip and cook an additional 8-10 minutes. Quickest thawing method: Keep the roast in its packaging and submerge in a bowl of cold water for 30 minutes or until completely thawed.
